Worldâs Richest Women of 2013
Do you wonder who has ruled the world this year? Letâs see who the richest women of 2013 are.
There are just a few days left until 2014. We all know that, but while some still struggle to find the right outfit for New Yearâs Eve, some have sit down to draw the line and see what this year has brought to them. And, as always, some have succeeded more than others, so letâs see who are the richest women of 2013, that have rocked the business world this year.
1. Liliane Bettencourt â" $30 Billion
Even if she is now 90 years old, she is still the principal shareholder in the largest cosmetics company LâOreal. Her father founded LâOreal and being his only daughter, she inherited stocks after his death. She has a fortune of $30 billion, of which 6 billion made last year, and that makes her also the wealthiest female in all European countries and in France. A little example to understand the power this woman has: just some months ago she sold her island Paradise in Seychelles for around $60 million. This gave her profits of $42 million.
 2. Christy Walton â" $28.2 Billion
Christy and her $28.2 Billion fortune, up nearly $3 billion from last year, ranks #11 in the list of rich people in the world and #1 in United States of America. She owns the largest retailing chain Wal-Mart, which she inherited from her husband John Walton.
3. Alice Walton â" $26.3 Billion
Business runs in family, so Alice, the sister-in-law of Christy Walton and the only daughter of Wal-Mart founder becomes the third richest woman in the world with a fortune of $26.3 Billion. She ranks #16 in the list of richest people in the world and is considered by Times Magazine as one of the most influential people in the world.
4. Iris Fontbona â" $17.4 Billion
Iris inherited her husband and her family controls Antofagasta, which is one of the largest copper miners on the planet. Her fortune of $17.4 Billion makes her the richest person in Chile and  #35 in the list of Forbes Billionaires. She also has control over company Quinenco, the countryâs second-largest bank (Banco de Chile), largest brewer (CCU) and the biggest shipping company in Latin America (CSAV).
5. Gina Rinehart â" $17 Billion
Her source of wealth is from mining, as she is the daughter of late Lang Hancock who was a mining tycoon and whose business she inherited. Her fortune of $17 billion makes her #35 in the list of most powerful women in the world.
I find the stories of these ladies very inspiring. May we all do our best and become billionaires!
