According to Lovely Planet the Most Extraordinary Hotel in the World is the Mihir Garh located in the Thar Desert near Jodhpur. Donât you worry, cause is not a mirage, is as real as it can be.
Designed by spouses Sidharth and Rashmi Singh, the most extraordinary hotel in the world it has nine suites, some with their own pools and private courtyards.
The hotel also offers a unique equestrian program featuring Marwari horses, an ancient and indigenous breed, as well as tented al fresco picnic outings and cooking classes exploring traditional Rajasthan cuisine.
Mihir Garh was built in just two years by over 100 local artisans and carpenters made the amazing turreted walls and honey-colored towers which now are described by the travel guides as âan enormous sandcastleâ. It was purpose-built in Indiaâs largest state by area in 2009.
It has a price from 17,000 to 33,600 rupees ($273-540) per night. According to the owners, the founding member of Led Zeppelin has pay this amount of money to stay at the most extraordinary hotel in the world.

Because I am not done yet; located at 55 kilometers from the âblueâ city of Jodhpur, it has everything in the hotel custom-made and reflects local traditions (right down to the flooring which was created by using a special plastering technique known only to one man in the region) according to the hotelâs website.
You may wonder, why is called Mihir Garh? Â Because is a palatial boutique hotel built on top of a sand dune dedicated to the warrior God near Jodhpur that harkens the decadent life of maharajahs.
