What’s best for spring than Elie Saab’s fluid and sparkling gowns?
The Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2014 Collection is a story about femininity written on a classical dress, with floral patterns and glitter. Saab is well known for merging sparkling materials and elegant gowns on the stage, but this time, I sincerely believe he quite outdid himself. His latest Spring/Summer collection is inspired by the work of the nineteenth-century Dutch artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, who became famous for his depictions of the luxury and decadence of the Roman Empire and his work is characterized by the way in which he features flowers and textures. So, Saab used pastel colors and flower-prints in order to capture a bit of that idyllic ambiance.

The dresses have a rather romantic touch given by the color palette used: from soft pink to coral and champagne to powder blue, purple and black. What is even more amazing to is the decoration.

Saab focused on the botanical and featured everything from blooming roses to gracious lilacs in hue. Every dress is a confectionery of floral embellishment and appliquéd crystals ran over organza and tulle fabrics.

Here’s where we saw most of Saab’s creativity. The way he combined shaded of black near the neckline to white at the hem, with countless colorful blooms in between is exquisite.

What’s common to all gowns is the feminine silhouette with skinny belted waists, no matter if the dress is blush pink, hydrangea blue, lilac or black.
The bridal gown is completing the collection and letting you see the concept behind the whole collection: a celebration of femininity expressed by Saab’s  signature embroideries.
