At the age of 58 years old, Georges is the CEO of Switzerlandâs Swatch Group, which bought the high-end jewelry arm of Canadian firm Harry Winston for $1 billion in January.One of the famous diamonds that Hayek has acquired through the Harry Winston brand recently is what industry watchers have described as a âflawlessâ 101.73 carat diamond, which sold for a record $26.7 million at a Christieâs auction in Geneva.
Number 4- Laurence Graff- $2.1 billion
Laurence Graff started working as a humble jewelry apprentice at the tender age of 15 and now is one of the richest diamond owners ever. Some of the most famous diamonds owned by Graff include the rare Graff Pink diamond at 24.78 carats, which the billionaire purchased for $46 million in 2010. Graff also owns the Lesotho Promise, a 603 carat diamond found in a mine in the South African country, which he purchased for $12.4 million in 2006. The company valued a necklace made from 26 stones cut from theLesotho Promise at more than $60 million in 2011, the New York Times reported.
Number 3- Dan Gertler â" $2.6 billion
The 39-years-old Dan is the youngest person who make the list of the richest diamond owners ever.  Founder and president of the Dan Gertler International Group (DGI) and head his familyâs Gibraltar registered business â" the Fleurette Group, the billionaire made his fortune by investing his family money diamonds in mining assets in the DRC, Forbes reported.
Number 2- Beny Steinmetz- $5.8 billion
Beny Steinmetz is the name of our second richest diamond owners ever. The 57-years-old Beny is an Israeli-born tycoon, the heir of his father Steinmetz Diamond Group. Beny is also the owner of BSR Group (Beny Steinmetz Resource Group) which owns the Octea Diamond Group that was mined from the Koidu mine in Sierra Leone, diamonds who are worth 10 millions carats. Another diamond in Steinmetz collection is an 59.6 carat pink diamond called Steinmetz Pink, who was reported to be worth up to $100 millions back in 2003.
Number 1- Cheng Yu-tung â" $19.6 billion
With his wealth estimated at $19.6 billion he is the biggest and oldest jewelry retailer. Plus he is the only Asian diamond owner who make this list. In 2010 Cheng bought a 507-carat Cullinan Heritage diamond and made the headlines because he paid $35.3 millions for the rough diamond, setting a new record for the highest price paid for a rough diamond. All this when the experts expected this diamond to sell at $25 million.
